Pick Me Up Makeup

Yesterday I finally felt better after this horrible coldy/fluey thing I have had, so I was looking forward to having a productive day (we are moving in a few weeks) and more importantly putting on some makeup!  I don't know about you, but when I'm ill my skin care regime goes down hill a bit and I end up just doing the bare minimum to keep my skin clean.  I really enjoyed spending a bit more time, giving my face a really good scrub with my Dermalogica Microfoliant, adding in some facial massage really helped to pep up my tired and groggy feeling skin.  Then after applying some of my usual, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo + and my beloved Oilatum Natural Repair Cream, my skin felt much more awake and full of colour.  I knew I wanted to wear some makeup but after a while of not having anything on my skin its easy to feel a bit over done, so my aim was; just enough to make me look healthy, awake and fresh.

Most attention went in to the skin, I mixed together a small blob (technical term) of my Estee Lauder Day Wear BB Creme and a slightly bigger blob of the Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator and applied the mixture with my fingers.  This really helped to even out my skin tone, ease the redness and also put a bit of life back in while keeping it super natural.  I added concealer lightly where I needed it and after a quick dusting of powder, I contoured subtly with my favourite, Nars Laguna Bronzer.  I filled in my brows as normal which I consider an important step when wearing natural makeup as it helps to give a groomed feel to the face without looking too made up, as long as you don't scouse brow it up of course!  Next I smudged a small amount of the Rimmel Scandaleyes pencil in Taupe along my top, outer lash line and finished off the eyes with one coat of the Maxfactor 2000 Calorie Mascara, making sure to pull out the lashes in the outer corners to open up my eyes.  The finishing touches included a light dab of an old Fashionista blusher on the apples of my cheeks followed by some Chanel Tweed Pink Blush along the tops of my cheek bones to add a gentle highlight.  I patted on some Lipstick Queen Perfect Wave with my fingers to get a touch of healthy colour to my lips and after a nice big spritz of Caudalie Beauty Elixir all over my face and neck I felt totally refreshed and ready to face my day.  The power of makeup eh!
