easy festival makeup

Festival season is around the corner, and with all this sunshine you'd be forgiven for thinking it was already here!  What with moving house this summer and having a small child attached to my feet at all times the only festivals I'll be attending will be in my back garden... well, its not quite that bad, I'm sure I'll pop along to at least one of Bristol's many offerings, and mighty fine offerings they are, but there is nothing quite like a long hazy weekend in a field, full of music, food and unwashed friends.  A tent is the last place to keep up with a full on makeup routine, but its nice to look acceptable for photos, keeping it natural but having a bit of fun too.  Here is a look that takes about 5 minutes to do, is easy, even after a couple of beers and will probably still look good the next morning!  Thank you to my sister, Rosie for letting me attack her face on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

It may look like a lot of skin products, but a quick and easy way to achieve natural glowy skin is to mix equal parts Revlon Photoready Skinlights with a light coverage foundation, I have used Revlon Nearly Naked, which also has a broad spectrum SPF 20.  If you wanted to cut these down to just one product, I recommend the Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser but at £34 its a pricier option (very worth it though).  I applied a small amount of concealer where it was needed and quickly dusted the t-zone with translucent powder.  Next, some lovely Nars Laguna bronzer over the high points of the face, where you would naturally tan just to add a nice healthy glow.  For eyes we patted the lids with some gold glitter by Collection and underneath smudged on some of the Maybelline Master Smokey Shadow Pencil in Smokey Navy to contrast Rosie's hazely/brown eyes, this comes with a really great smudger tool on one end so no need for an extra brush!  Then one or two coats of the Kate Moss for Rimmel Rockin Curves Mascara in Saphire, a gorgeous dark blue which finishes of the eyes for a fun but easily wearable look. Seeing as you already have the glitter, it would be wrong not to throw a bit more on, so go wild and use your imagination!  Charlie loves it all over his arms and legs!  Lastly its good to keep a lip balm with SPF in your bag, MAC do some lovely tinted lip conditioners with SPF 15, this one is in Gentle Coral which I think they have discontinued but there are loads of products around like this.  If you are going to a festival this summer, enjoy and have a drink for me!
