Estee Lauder Double Wear Light: kit worthy?

Saturday, 5 April 2014

So I know everyone else is talking about the Estee Lauder Double Wear All Day Glow BB Creme at the moment, and it is definitely on my list (I have the Day Wear BB Creme which I LOVE and I would be interested to see how they differ) but for now I want to talk about the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation.

I was looking for a new foundation to have in my kit, so I headed out for a little scout around the counters and came away with this one.  It has a sheer to medium coverage that helps to control oil but I reckon this would work on pretty much all skin types, I bought two shades, one really pale (shade 0.5) and one fairly dark (shade 5) so I can mix them to create the right shade for most skin tones just for now while I play around with it and decide if its worth investing in more shades for my kit.  It also goes through my airbrush really well which is a must for me as this is usually my preferred method of foundation application.  The only thing I was concerned with was the fact that it contains SPF and if that would cause flash back issues, the lady on the counter assured me that unlike the original double wear foundation this one doesn't cause any flash back, I had to test it out for myself and was pleased with the results.  Above you can see me without the foundation on, with flash and with no flash and then with the foundation on with flash and with no flash, I was pleased with the results as my face doesn't appear lighter than my neck when the flash is used and you can't tell where the foundation has been applied and where it hasn't.  I was also pleased with the finish and feel of the foundation and when it got to the end of the day my foundation was still firmly in place, my only downer on this product is that the darkest shade is only one up from shade 5 which doesn't make it suitable for all skin tones.  I find it odd that brands are still failing to cater for all skin tones, but anyway, for the most part this foundation is a kit keeper!

In the last photo you can see all the things I used to create this look.  What foundations do you swear by in your makeup kit?
